Build and Release Engineer

Role is Mumbai based (Hybrid)

The Role
● Develop and maintain robust development and testing environments
● Oversee CI/CD across our engineering landscape
● Ensure we’re following best practices for security across our environments
● Lead best practice in development and testing across the teams
● Work with the teams to ensure our systems scale smoothly in response to demand
● Work with our teams to ensure our systems have the correct monitoring and alerting in
place

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our DevOps team. Our systems run in Google Cloud Platform, and we have customer-facing web applications, endpoints for server-to-server calls from external systems, and data pipelines that process many terabytes of data daily. These systems are deployed through a comprehensive CI/CD pipeline, with separate test and development environments. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the build/test environment and the data servers, ensuring that the CI/CD pipelines run cleanly and securely.You will also work with the team to ensure that the systems scale smoothly under load, with appropriate monitoring and alerting.

We operate a DevOps culture, where the engineers who manage infrastructure work on the core function of building systems that allow the developers to develop, test and deploy their code smoothly and straightforwardly. You'll be involved in the full lifecycle of product development, from ideation and design to implementation and support. Our collaborative environment encourages you to discuss the 'why' behind every project, helping shape the future of our technology. You'll work closely with other engineers, data scientists, and product managers, ensuring that our systems are well-tested and deploy easily and at scale.

Required knowledge
● Experience of building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
● Excellent understanding of server-side Linux
● Proficiency in Python and shell scripting
● Proficiency in Jenkins
● Proficiency in working in a Cloud environment
● Proficiency in containerisation and orchestration
● Proficiency in provisioning tools
● Experience with logging and monitoring

Desired knowledge
● Strong background with Google Cloud Platform and its hosted products
● Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes and Helm Charts
● Experience with Prometheus
● Experience with Cassadra or Scylla
● Experience with Postgres
● Experience with Scala, C++, Java and JavaScript
● Proficiency with Terraform and Google Deployment Manager

Expected background
● 5+ years of experience in build, deployment and Infrastructure, or in a more general role with that as a strong focus
● Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar
