We are looking for solid and experienced Data Engineers to work on building secure, automated, and scalable pipelines on GCP. We receive over 350GB of data an hour and respond to 400,000 decision requests each second, with petabytes of analytical data to work with. We tackle challenges across nearly every major discipline of data science, including classification, clustering, optimization, and data mining.

This role will focus on designing and delivering high-performance data pipelines and ensuring efficient cloud compute usage. You'll be part of a growing team, playing a crucial role in reaching the next 10x level of scale and intelligence. Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize high-scale data processing pipelines to
  ensure outstanding performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
  across our systems.
• Drive improvements in data architecture, leveraging advanced
  strategies to enhance query efficiency, optimize resource utilization,
  and deliver fast, accurate insights for our stakeholders.
• Implement and refine indexing and data ingestion methods to make our
  data processes more robust and responsive to the needs of the
  business.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams, ensuring our
  data infrastructure continually evolves to support new initiatives and
  deliver a seamless user experience.
• Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative environment
  that encourages knowledge sharing, innovation, and professional
  growth.
• Explore and implement innovative solutions, using modern technologies
  to unlock the full potential of our data assets and support our
  company's growth.

Skills and experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale data systems,
  focusing on designing and maintaining efficient data pipelines.
• In-depth knowledge of Apache Druid and Imply platforms, including
  query optimization and DevOps practices.
• Proven experience with cloud-based services, especially GCP, and
  strong proficiency in Python for building and optimizing data flows.
• Mastery of data governance and quality assurance practices, ensuring
  reliable and efficient data pipelines aligned with business and
  financial constraints.
• Advanced knowledge of server-side Linux operations and a pragmatic
  approach to managing cloud computing resources to avoid cost overages.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and tools like Apache
  Airflow for orchestrating complex data workflows.
  

Desired

• Proficient in Spark and other distributed processing frameworks, with
  experience tuning performance and optimizing resource usage.
• Experience with non-interactive reporting solutions like Google
  BigQuery to handle large, complex queries and reduce interactive load.
• Knowledge of partitioning, indexing, and data lake optimization
  techniques to ensure minimal latency and maximum throughput.
• Practical experience working with relational databases, including
  advanced operations such as partitioning and indexing.
• Understanding and ability to apply and optimize complex algorithms and statistical techniques to large data structures.
• Experience with Python Notebooks (Jupyter, Zeppelin, or Google
  Datalab) for analyzing, prototyping, and visualizing data.
